School Bus Safety Field Trip for Pre-nursery students – April 2023
A Journey of Discovery and Safety
This April, our youngest learners from the Pre-Nursery classes embarked on a very special mission: the School Bus Safety Field Trip! While our little ones often see the big bus as just a fun ride to school, this trip was designed to teach them that “safety starts before the engine does.” It was a day filled with wide eyes, curious questions, and plenty of hands-on discovery.
Essential Lessons for Our Smallest Passengers
Under the careful guidance of our dedicated SJC teachers and professional bus drivers, the students were introduced to the “Rules of the Road.” The morning was packed with vital information tailored specifically for their age group, including:
- The Golden Rule of Entry: Learning to use the handrails and wait patiently for the driver’s signal before boarding.
- Safe Seating Habits: Understanding the importance of sitting “bottom-to-bottom” and “back-to-back” while the bus is in motion.
- Emergency Awareness: A gentle, age-appropriate introduction to exit procedures, ensuring our students feel confident and prepared rather than overwhelmed.
- The Danger Zone: Learning to stay clear of the areas directly around the bus where the driver might not see them.
Pride in Our Youngest Learners
We were absolutely blown away by the behavior of our Pre-Nursery stars! Despite their young age, they were incredibly attentive, followed every instruction with precision, and showed great respect to our bus drivers. Seeing them sit so quietly and listen to the safety demonstrations made our entire staff beam with pride. They proved that you are never too young to become a “Safety Ambassador.”
